Workshop on Sickness Absenteeism and Presenteeism

On October, 10-11, 2013 the Institute for Labour Law and Industrial Relations in the European Union (IAAEU) will organise a workshop on Sickness Absenteeism and Presenteeism in cooperation with the chair of personnel economics at the University of Trier, Germany.  The purpose of the workshop is to bring together international scholars working on sickness absence and presence behaviour and to stimulate research on this theme.

The workshop welcomes contributions on worker absence and presence behaviour, its determinants and consequences, but is also open to wider issues in this context. We welcome theoretical and empirical contributions from economics and business studies and related disciplines.

Deadline for submission of complete papers, or extended abstracts, is July 1, 2013. Preference will be given to complete papers. Please send your contribution as a PDF to Diese E-Mail-Adresse ist vor Spambots geschützt! Zur Anzeige muss JavaScript eingeschaltet sein! including information on your affiliation, mail address, phone number and email. Authors will be notified no later than July 30, 2013 as to whether their contribution has been accepted for the workshop.

There will be a participation fee of 100 Euro covering organisation, meal and the conference dinner. The IAAEU will attempt to cover accommodation and travel expenses for those participants who do not have sufficient funding.

For further details please contact the workshop organisers, Prof. Dr. Laszlo Goerke (Diese E-Mail-Adresse ist vor Spambots geschützt! Travel Information

Travelling by plane:

If you are travelling from North America, South America, Asia, Australia and New Zealand or Africa, we recommend that you fly to Frankfurt/Main (FRA) or Luxembourg (LUX) airport.

Frankfurt/Main Airport (FRA)

From Frankfurt/Main airport you can travel by train to Trier main station (“Hauptbahnhof”). Information on train connections can be found at www.bahn.de.

There is no direct connection from the train station at Frankfurt/Main airport and Trier main station. Depending on your connection, you must change at least once. The travelling time amounts to approximately 3h.

An alternative to travelling by train is a bus connection from Frankfurt/Main airport to Trier. You can find information on this bus route at www.delux-express.de/english/.

Luxembourg Airport (LUX)

From Luxembourg airport (Aéroport Luxembourg/Findel) there is a bus connection to Trier Theodor-Heuss-Allee (in front of the Hotel Römischer Kaiser). You can find information on this bus route at  http://travelplanner.mobiliteit.lu/hafas/cdt/query.exe/en?. The travelling time amounts to approximately 1h.

This bus connection only goes to "Nells Park" bus stop, which is in the north part of Trier. If you arrive very late at night or early in the morning, it is possible that there will not be any buses running to the city centre. It is about 2.5km to the main station and 3km to the pedestrian area in the centre of Trier by foot. You could also order a taxi by calling 0049/(0)651/12012 from your mobile phone.
